In sixteenth and seventeenth century Europe, humans’ never-ending need for knowledge and insatiable curiosity manifested in what was first labeled as Wunderkammers (cabinets of curiosities). Exotic, eclectic and extravagant, curiosity cabinets are considered the predecessors of today’s museums.
